What does God say about striving for success?

Merriam-Webster defines strive as: “to devote serious effort or energy; to struggle in opposition;” and to oppose as: “to place over against something so as to provide resistance, counterbalance, or contrast”and success as: “degree or measure of succeeding;a favorable or desired outcome; the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence.” So, whom do we oppose when we strive for success? And, who’s definition of success are we striving to achieve? This world’s view of success is limited to this life only, while God’s view is eternal. These two viewpoints provide two very different definitions of success. Each view opposes the other and gives us the contrast God wants us to see, when we are

What does God say about righteous judgment?

What is righteous judgment? Merriam-Webster defines righteous as: “acting in accord with divine or moral law; free from guilt or sin; morally right or justifiable.” and judgment as: “the process of forming an opinion or evaluation by discerning and comparing.” So, a righteous judgment is an opinion or evaluation based on a divine or moral law, which is free from guilt or sin. Being free from guilt or sin means we are not making this judgment based on our own selfish desires. We have nothing to gain personally from it. This judgment is based solely on what is law, either divine or moral. Can we picture Lady Justice, blindfolded, holding a sword and the scales of justice? This is the k

What does God say about the two sides?  He says pick one!

We are in the middle of a great war, Eph 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” God is on one side asking us to choose to be part of His eternal family. Satan is on the other side trying to fool us into refusing God’s offer. There are only two sides in this war. One side is with God, Mk 9:40, “For he that is not against us is on our part.” And, the other side is against God, 1 Sam 12:15, “But if ye will not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall the hand of the Lord be against you, as it was

What does God say about reasoning?

God does not call us to blind faith, but rather, He wants us to use the wonderful minds He has given us, to reason with His Word, Is 1:18, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” He promises we will be rewarded for our effort, as the truth will wipe away all of our sins. This is a bold promise, who but God could make it? How can we prove it? Proving the existence of God and the truthfulness of His promises is a rather simple matter. It begins when we stop pretending we know there is no God. Pretending we can know there is no God when we have never reasoned

What does God say about our separation from Him?Untitled

Merriam-Webster defines separation as: “the act or process of separating; the state of being separated; a point, line, or means of division; an intervening space.” So, what does it mean for us to be separated from God? And, what does He say about our choice to separate from Him? God desires us to remain close to Him for all eternity, Deut 30:16, “In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.” He knows what will happen to us if we choose to go our own way, Deut 30:17-18, “Bu
