What does God say about addictions?

Jam 1:13-14, “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” The devil is always looking for our weaknesses, our lusts, to tempt us into an addiction, 1 Pet 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” Once we are lured into action by a temptation, we surrender our will to the power of the addiction and our lives are devoured by it, Rom 6:16, “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin un

What does God say about lying?

God has told us the things He hates, and lying is one of them, Prov 6:16-19, “These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” The reason God hates lying, so much, is that it breaks trust and puts roadblocks along the path to Him, Is 32:7, “The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.” God delights in our decision to be truthful, Prov

What does God say about our Rock Stars?

He came in His Father’s name, and we crucified Him, Jn 5:43-44, “I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?” There are considerably more award ceremonies today than there were fifty years ago. Why? Who are we honoring with these award ceremonies and their ensuing box office receipts? And, who is the real Rock Star? We all want to touch the stars as they pass by us on the way to the court, the stage, or the next tee box. We only need to watch a golf tournament, singers when they get near the edge of the stage o

What Does God say about “Once saved, always saved?”

We hear people arguing both sides of the issue, “once saved, always saved,” but, what does God say about it? And, how can we know we are truly saved? Rom 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” So, first we confess with our mouths, this is the easy part. Then, we must believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead. Some will not believe, even if they see a resurrected Jesus, Lk 16:31, “And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.” Believing in Jesus’ resurrection can only happen
