What does God say about our Rock Stars?

He came in His Father’s name and we crucified Him, Jn 5:43-44, “I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?” Have you noticed how many more award ceremonies there are today than there were fifty years ago? Who are we honoring with these award ceremonies and their ensuing box office receipts? And, who is the real Rock Star? We all want to high five the star as he passes by us on the way to the court/stage, we all wanted to share in the glory Michael Jordan created, night after night. Not everyone got that opportun

What does God say about our dilemma?

Merriam-Webster defines a dilemma as: “a usually undesirable or unpleasant choice.” So, a dilemma only gives us two bad choices to pick from. Some of us see the choice God calls us to make as a dilemma, a dilemma of our own making. Our pride creates this dilemma, which will decide our eternal future. The dilemma is: to live in our sins and face eternal death; or to swallow our pride and reason with God, which will lead to our accepting Jesus as our savior, and eventually, to our dying to our sins, Heb 10:26, “For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,” for willfully remaining in our sins is evidence we have no

What Does God Say About Opinions?

Merriam-Webster defines an opinion as: “a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter” or “a belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge” or “a formal expression of judgment or advice by an expert.” So, even experts are only sharing their opinions, albeit more educated ones. Opinions become rigid when we isolate ourselves, Prov 18:1, “Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.” In our modern society we can surround ourselves with the voices of like-minded people, who willingly share their opinions as positive knowledge, but this serves only to move us further and further from the trut

What does God say about lying?

God has told us the things He hates and lying is one of them, Prov 6:16-19, “These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” The reason God hates lying, so much, is that it breaks trust and puts roadblocks along the path to Him, Is 32:7, “The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.” God delights in our decision to be truthful, Prov 1

What does God say about perfecting marriage?

Gail and I celebrated our 40thanniversary in April of this year. God has taught us many things over the years and improving our marriage has been one of the big ones. Here are the 5 lessons we continue to work on: 1) A commitment: Our wedding vows included “’til death do us part” and everything else works because we accept this. Once we have accepted the fact that everything can work out, Rom 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”, we work together to make that happen. No back doors, everything needs to be dealt with and worked out for the benefit of both of us, Gen 2:18, 22-24, “And the Lord
