What Can I Give to God?

When I think about God, I am in total awe, "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." Rev. 1:8 &"Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him." Ps. 33:8. Here is a being capable of creating everything in this universe, seen and unseen, "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:" Col. 1:16. What could I possibly give to Him that He could not create for Himself? "For with God nothing shall be impossible." Lk. 1:37. Only my love, which is all that He wants, "And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." Mk. 12:32-33.

This is a humbling thought. He is a God who loves me enough to die on the cross for my love, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." Jn. 15:13 & "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." Jn. 3:16-17. He is a God willing to allow me to walk away from Him, to deny His love, to break His heart, because He wants me to love Him, "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:" Deut. 30:19 & "Jesus wept." Jn. 11:35. His plan has only one end, a family fully in love with each other, "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many." 1 Cor. 12:13-14. He has no ulterior motive, only the creation of His family, "In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another." 1 Jn. 3:10-11. He has done everything to win my love, "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." Matt. 22:37. He could not buy it or force me to love Him, "Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." Rom. 13:10. So, He woos me with His overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love, "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." 1 Cor. 2:9.

I can only have one response, to love as He does, "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God." 1 Jn. 4:7. I sing joyfully to Him, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Col. 3:16. I thank Him for all He has done, "I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;" 1 Cor. 1:4. I willingly and lovingly, respond by passing His love on to everyone I meet, "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." Gal. 5:14 & "Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you." Jn. 20:21.
